Think it • Design it • Create it

My client came to me with an idea that she wanted an old fashioned vanity.
She knew she wanted it to be covered in a blue toile fabric.
She also wanted it to have an organic shape, not a hard edged rectangle.
I was also on a time crunch and a budget.
The old vintage vanities were out of the question at this point because of price,
and there was no time to locate one in an antique shop.

I started with this new desk that I found online.
Great price and quick delivery.

My next step was to get a custom glass top made.
After  receiving the desk, I traced the top and made a paper template.
I took it to a local glass company to make this tempered glass top.

We decided to drape the fabric with several pleats accented with blue bows.
I wanted the top to be solid blue giving it contrast against the toile.
My seamstress did an amazing job!  She said it was like tailoring a dress.

The glass top fit perfectly!

It's all in the details.

I chose to do the piping in the toile fabric.

My seamstress did an incredible job matching up every pleat to keep the pictures flowing seamlessly.

I also decided to have the detailed bows in the contrasting blue so they pop.

Beautiful craftsmanship.

It's exactly what my client envisioned.

This may not be your style or even your taste in fabric, but the point is,
if you can think it up it can be created.
It's a matter of getting someone who understands your vision and who is capable of putting it all together.

The client was thrilled with the final piece!

Here it is in the clients master bedroom with her new upholstered chairs.

I also had this table cover custom made for her bedroom to tie all the new pieces together.

Even though my personal taste in home design is more of a modern, contemporary look,
I can certainly work with clients giving them the design style they prefer.
It's all about color, scale, and pulling it all together for them!
