PORTFOLIO: Back Hallway & Laundry Room

This is the beginning of the Back Hall & Laundry Room project for my client.

After photo of the Back Hall.
I added a beautiful warm greenish color, along with new blinds, and cornice board.
Also added black paint to the railing.

Even the Back Hall deserves custom artwork

The Back Hall leads into the Laundry Room

Before photos of the Laundry Room

Started with an idea board to show the client, indicating wall colors and window treatments.
New paint and window treatments makes all the difference!

Added black wainscoting to the lower section of the walls for durability

Custom Roman shade on the back door

The contemporary pattern of the Roman shade includes the green color of the Back Hall,
helping to blend the two spaces together.

Custom made cornice boards to match

New black cabinets over the washer and dryer add more storage.
I added a utility bar between the cabinets for hanging laundry.

Even the Laundry Room deserves  a fun and funky light!

WALL PAINT

One of my strengths in design is picking paint colors.  I've picked hundreds of wall colors for family, friends, and clients over the years.  Most of the time it's more of a feeling for me, selecting the right color for a particular room.

Picking paint color can be tricky for some.
Here's a tip when picking a neutral tan color:
There are many, many varieties of "tan".  Be aware of the hint of another color within the "tan" color family.  Example: the color "tan" can lean towards the pinks, or the greens, or the yellows.  I like choosing a bit towards the yellow because it adds more warmth to the color.

Here are some samples of paint colors that I choose for one client:
The beautiful, warm orange-rust color goes well with the existing hardwood floors.  The hallway was kept a nice neutral tan color.  The kitchen choice added a bit of dark drama with this beautiful muted teal.  It goes really well with the light limestone floors.  All the trim was repainted in a bright white to make it fresh and pop-out!

This multitude of fun colors was chosen for the kids play area.
I picked four different vibrant colors and varied them around the room
to add action and life to the space.

Adding a feature wall is a good idea if the room calls for it.
In this little boys room, his favorite color was red.  I choose to do a small feature wall across from a large feature wall instead of painting the entire room red.

This little boy loved the color blue.  Notice the ceiling?!  Think of the ceiling as your fifth wall.  It doesn't always have to be white, especially if there are ceiling moldings in the room.
I designed the stripes under the existing chair-rail for a little added fun!

Be creative and have fun when choosing your next paint colors.

PORTFOLIO: Guest Room

Simple and Warm Guest Bedroom

I started with a blank, white room.
Added a soft warm gray paint on the walls.
Client wanted to keep the wall-to-wall carpet since it was new.
I added the rusty-orange accent colors to keep a nice warm feel.

Off the shelf bedding works just fine for the guest room.
The fun side table is from Crate & Barrel.

The drapes are a beautiful silk from West Elm.

Added a reading chair and floor lamp.
New bright artwork, and black dresser, along with a few accessories and there you go!!!
