A little "Color of the Year" going on here

Radiant Orchid may be predicted as the 2014 color of the year,
but that's NOT why I choose a beautiful purple for a feature wall in my master bedroom.

Here it is... a vignette all set up and something felt like it was missing.

A side wall in the master bedroom that needed to be grounded with color.

I took inspiration from the items on the mirrored dresser

...especially from the hydrangeas

... and my special gift from a friend.  If you know me, you know I love Tink :)

I also had these beautiful cream vases.
I had one of my own and inherited the other two from my Mom's collection.

Inspiration also came from this modern, abstract painting.
I love the mix of the modern painting with the traditional dresser and accessories.

The room also has gray and golden/yellow accents.

Just purchased this slipper chair from a second-hand shop.
The dull yellow color was perfect for my color scheme.

These are the four paint colors that I started with.

After narrowing it down, my final choice was called Grape Harvest.

The mirrored dresser and the painting now pop off the dark paint color.

This is just the beginning design for this room.
The overall color scheme will be gray with touches of pale yellow.
This purple color may not have been your first choice but I think it's unique and a beautiful addition.

I like to think outside-the-box, and it's easier to do it in my own home.
Without even thinking about it, I added 2014 Color of the Year to my own space.
Would you consider painting purple in your house?

Hope you enjoyed!
